Vaggie is the deuteragonist of the 2024 animated series Hazbin Hotel.
She is the best friend and girlfriend of the main protagonist, Charlie Morningstar, who assists her in her mission to redeem sinners and save Hell from the yearly Exterminations led by Adam and his lieutenant Lute. Originally part of Adam's army of Exorcists, she has a change of heart after sparing a sinner child and being saved from certain death by Charlie, leading to her becoming a good person for the rest of the series.
She is voiced by Stephanie Beatriz.
What Makes Her a Seinen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Anti-Heroic: She helps Charlie run the hotel where they redeem sinners so they ascend to Heaven, spared Sir Pentious due to Charlie intervening when the hammy snake guy wanted to die for working with the Vees, went to Heaven with Charlie to prove to Sera that sinners can be redeemed (only for that to be ruined by Adam exposing her as an Exorcist) and led the final battle against Adam and the Extermination which saved countless lives.
- Cynical: She doesn't trust men due to being betrayed and left for dead by Adam.
- Stoical: In contrast to Charlie who is bubbly and happy-go-lucky, Vaggie usually keeps a straight face and only shows emotion when she needs to.
- Insightful: She felt bad about being an Exorcist to the point where she redeemed herself via sparing a sinner child.
- Sophisticated/Mature: She, and arguably Husk by extension, is the most serious and mature member of the main six of the show (which consists of Charlie, Vaggie herself, Angel, Alastor, Husk and Niffty).
- Pessimistic: She doesn't always believe that Charlie's ideas will work, telling her that life isn't a musical.
- Realistic: She wants to live in the present and stays true to herself.
- Strong Sense of Willpower: Even after being revealed as a fallen angel by Adam, she still made up with Charlie and helped her defeat the genocidal lunatic himself.
- Pragmatic: She originally helped Adam and Lute with their exterminations because at first, she felt that sinners were irredeemable until her mind was changed eventually due to Charlie's optimism.
- Has Anger Issues: Despite being a mature and good person, she does have a temper that she loses at times.
- Has Killer Instinct: She had no problems with killing Adam during the final extermination, even expressing glee when Niffty fatally stabbed him in the back.
- Has Bloodlust: She enjoys fighting and is always seeking a challenge.
- Reckless: By letting a child go during an Extermination, she lost her right eye to Lute.
- Tragic Past: She used to work for the Exorcists until she was betrayed and had her eye and wings cut off by Lute as punishment for not killing a sinner child before being left to die by Adam and his right-hand until Charlie came across her and redeemed her.
- Has Trust Issues: Due to her past experiences with Adam, she has trouble getting along with Angel and Alastor.
- Hard-Boiled: She tries to keep her emotions to herself, only losing her composure when the time calls for it.
- Has an Outfit with Black/Red/Blue: Her shirt is red, and so is the large hair bow that she always wears on her head.
