As my fourth proposal for the wiki, I'm proposing the Chosen One from Animator vs. Animation.
What's the Work?[]
Animator vs. Animation is a youtube web-series made by Alan Becker which showcases the adventures of sentient stick figures who are part of the Animator's computer.
Who Is He?[]
The Chosen One is the Animator's second stick figure who was made in AVA 2 and went rouge, becoming a major villain. This is the case until AVA 5 where he redeems himself from his villainy and stands up to the Dark Lord, a stick figure wanting to target the internet.
What Makes Him a Seinen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Anti-Heroic: The Chosen One played a major role in the defeat of the Dark Lord, saving countless lives from his wanton destruction.
- Stoic: As a stick figure, the Chosen One never talks and his body language isn't particularly expressive when around other people.
- Insightful: After reflecting on the cruelty of the Dark Lord and the actions of the Animator, he decides to redeem himself and helps the Animator in defeating the Dark Lord despite the pain he was given by the Animator.
- Mature: After his redemption, the Chosen One is more willing to try and talk his enemies out of a conflict before fighting them as shown with the Dark Lord and victim.
- Strong Sense of Willpower: Despite facing seemingly impossible odds, he always tries to break free from a bad situation as shown with how he frees himself from the Animator, his persistence against the ViraBots and his resistance against victim's box.
- Has Killer Instinct: Before his redemption, the Chosen One was incredibly willing to murder his enemies and while less prominent after his redemption, he is willing to murder others as a last resort.
- Reckless: He recklessly had the Second Coming help him against the mercenaries by forcing, causing both of them to be imprisoned.
- Tragic Past: While it is debatable whether it makes him tragic, the Chosen One was placed into slavery by the Animator for 4 years which is treated sympathetically by the time of AVA 5.
Verdict?[]
A cautious yes for the Chosen One. While the Villainous Benchmark wiki considers him Fake Tragic, it is mainly due to the fact that he was a villain prior to said event rather than being too cruel or vile with it being listed as a debatable validation. Additionally, his suffering is treated with sympathy by the narrative, with it still affecting him, and he redeems himself, becoming the Ultimate Good so I do believe we could make an exception in his case.
