Thorfinn Thorsson is the central protagonist of Vinland Saga.

He is voiced by Yūto Uemura (as a teenager and young adult) and Shizuka Ishigami (as a child) in Japanese and Mike Haimoto (as a teenager and young adult in the Sentai Dub), Shannon Emerick (as a child in the Sentai Dub), Aleks Le (as a teenager and young adult in the VSI Dub) and Laura Stahl (as a child in the VSI Dub) in English.

What Makes Him a Seinen Hero?[]

  • Anti-Heroic: For the majority of the War Arc, many of Thorfinn's actions are motivated by vengeance against Askedladd for killing his father.
  • Cynical: Thorfinn is distrustful of people's intentions, especially when it comes to Askedladd.
  • Apathetic: Thorfinn doesn't get phased by the current circumstances unless it involves his loved ones.
  • Stoical: Thorfinn rarely displays his emotions towards others.
  • Pessimistic: Thorfinn has grown jaded and weary of the world around him as a result of the trauma of his father's murder.
  • Strong Sense of Willpower: Thorfinn refuses to give up in life regardless of the obstacles standing in his way.
  • Has Anger Issues: Thorfinn lets his rage get the better of him, especially towards Askeladd.
  • Has Killer Instinct: Thorfinn doesn't hesitate to kill anyone without showing mercy.
  • Reckless: Thorfinn has a tendency of putting his own life in danger.
  • Tragic Past: As a result of witnessing his father being killed, Thorfinn becomes jaded and vengeful.
  • Has Trust Issues: Due to Askedladd being responsible for his father's death, Thorfinn is extremely wary of him.
  • Hard-Boiled: Due to the trauma of witnessing his father's murder at a young age as well as his own lifestyle as a mercernary, Thorfinn grows numbed to the horrors of blood.
  • Vengeful: Thorfinn wants to seek revenge on Askedladd for killing his father in front of him when he was a little boy.
