What Makes Him a Seinen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Anti-Heroic: Spike has saved many lives from criminals, specifically the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate, even though it is mostly for his own personal gain or for the safety of his crew.
- Cynical: After losing his girlfriend Julia, Spike became rather jaded and somewhat distrustful of people's intentions.
- Apathetic: Unless it involves his interests or the well-being of his crew or close friends, Spike is usually nonchalant with any situation he is in.
- Insightful: Spike offers wisdom from time to time.
- Pessimistic: Spike usually gets depressed when it comes to his own life, especially when it comes to finding love.
- Strong Sense of Willpower: Regardless of how much trauma he has experienced, Spike manages to keep moving forward with his life.
- Lustful: Spike can be a womanizer at times, as shown as he flirts with women, especially Faye.
- Tragic Past: Alongside Vicious, Spike was a member of the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate until he fell in love with Julia. Unfortunately, his friendship with Vicious took a left turn when he fell for Julia as well, leading to them fighting for her. However, Julia didn't want to continue the path of crime and she wants to be with Spike. This led to Vicious giving her a choice: to kill Spike or herself. As Spike and Julia decide to run together, Vicious attempts to kill Spike but Julia saved his life by taking the bullet instead, dying in the process. Julia's death led to Spike seeking revenge against Vicious.
- Vengeful: Spike wants to take revenge against Vicious for murdering Julia.
