Frank West is the main protagonist of the Dead Rising franchise. He was voiced by Terrance. J. Rotolo in every game besides Dead Rising 4 and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, where he was voiced by Ty Olsson and Jas Patrick respectively.

What Makes Him a Seinen Hero?[]

  • Anti-Heroic: In spite of his many admirable deeds, Frank mainly does what he does in order to become a famous and acclaimed photojournalist, rather than for the benefit of other people.
  • Cynical: In Dead Rising 4, Frank was skeptical of Vick's intention of trying to figure out how the second Willamette Outbreak began, thinking that she just wanted to get the next big scoop (which is ironic since that's exactly how she viewed him).
  • Apathetic: In Dead Rising 4, Frank doesn't really care about the people suffering the second Willamette Outbreak, or for the Maniacs that he kills, often making fun of them at their expense.
  • Pessimistic: Frank believed that if he tried to uncover another zombie outbreak, the American government would bury him again.
  • Realistic: For the most part, Frank isn't too concerned with saving people's lives, and he doesn't really see it as his mission to do so, he just wants to get his story and leave.
  • Strong Sense of Willpower: Throughout the series, Frank has always been determined to get the next big scoop, and he won't let anything, not even terrorists or thousands of zombies stop him from doing so.
  • Has Killer Instinct: In Dead Rising 4, Frank doesn't show much hesitation towards killing maniacs before shrugging it off.
  • Reckless: Unsurprisingly, Frank has put himself in extreme danger numerous times, such as being bit by zombies and even becoming a zombie himself at one point.
  • Has Trust Issues: Because of the trauma of the first Willamette Outbreak, Frank becomes less dependent on others in Dead Rising 4, to the point of just abandoning them sometimes because he wants to do things alone without their help.
