D-16 (Transformers One)

D-16, later known as Megatron, is the deuteragonist turned secondary antagonist of Transformers One.

He was voiced by Brian Tyree Henry.

What Makes Him a Seinen Hero?[]

  • Heroic/Anti-Heroic: D-16 saved Jazz from a mine explosion and he later killed Sentinel Prime and ended his tyrannical rule.
  • Cynical: After finding out about Sentinel's true colors, D-16 becomes far more mistrusting and cynical.
  • Apathetic: He is generally uncaring for those who suffer as a result of his actions.
  • Insightful: After learning the truth about Sentinel, D-16 started to reflect on his past life and how he believed Sentinel should pay for it.
  • Pessimistic: In contrast to Optimus, D-16 is notably pessimistic and doesn't have much hope over the situation improving.
  • Realistic: Even as D-16, Megatron discouraged Orion's adventures for breaking protocol and even wanted
  • Strong Sense of Willpower: Is willing to go against even his own best friend to achieve his goals.
  • Pragmatic: Megatron uses notably brutal and harsh means to the point of hypocrisy to get what he wants.
  • Has Anger Issues: Is incredibly aggressive in general.
  • Has Killer Instinct: Killed Sentinel Prime by ripping him in half and followed that up by attempting to massacre all of Iacon.
  • Has Bloodlust: Becomes notably sadistic as a result of his transformation into the feared Megatron.
  • Tragic Past: Has a genuine tragedy of being stripped of his cog at birth and being forced to mine energon by those higher up, who often abused him and his kind. Eventually, he found out it was all in vain as Sentinel Prime turned out to be an evil tyrant who deceived the Cybertronians.
  • Has Trust Issues: Becomes incredibly cynical by nature at the end of the film.
  • Vengeful: Killed Sentinel Prime in an incredibly brutal manner out of vengeance.

Trivia[]

  • To further cement his status as a Seinen Hero, many people have compared this portrayal of Megatron to Kratos, especially during the scene where he kills Sentinel and becomes Megatron.
